Vanilla extract can be made with vodka, bourbon, or rum, depending on what you have available. I used a mix of vodka and bourbon.
1 oz 100-proof vodka
1 oz bourbon
1 vanilla bean
Split the vanilla bean down the length and scrape out the seeds. Place seeds and pod into clean bottles. Add the vodka and bourbon.
Place lid on container and shake. Set aside in a cool, dark place to infuse for at least 6 weeks.
